Chopper Motorcycle Parts

- motorcycle chopper frame ... plzz help! thanks :)?
im looking to build my own chopper and im looking at frames ... in the specs it says fo example 3" up and 5" out and 40 deg. rake ... i just wanted to know what they mean by "up" and "out" ... any help would be much appreciated also i know what rake is but how do they mesure it? ... from where to where are they measuring to get the deg.

Getting the TRAIL set correctly is CRITICAL, if you don't get it set correctly, the bike will handle like crap, be hard to steer, wobble and weave, over or understeer...basically DANGEROUS. Most of the time, with large angles of rake, you will need to use raked triple trees to correctly set the trail, get it wrong the first time, you have a $500-1000 set of trees that are useless and must buy another set, HOPING to get it right, if not..guess what, you got another set, then you must also take into consideration, every 2-3 degrees of rake, you must add 1" of fork tube length and re-cut new longer pre-load spacers each time.....this is why you just simply buy a rolling chassis that already has all this figured into it....
