- Why are Chopper motorcycles, and 3-wheeled bicycles always such a rare sight?
As popular as motorcycles are in America, why is it that you hardly ever see any Chopper motorcycles that have the high handlebars and the long extended wheelbase? These days I mostly see the high-speed motorcycles where there rider leans forward until his or her chest is practically pressed against the gas tank. Also, why is it that 3-wheeled bicycles are always a rare sight? I never see them being ridden by anyone young. Its always much older middle aged people riding them.
A Where have you been hiding yourself? There was a whole new chopper fad created when the stupid TV show came out. Everybody and their brother had one, now there's a whole lot of them listed for sale. Adult tricycles are a bit of a rarity. Since they cost about twice what a bicycle does, they don't sell well to those who just want wheels. They are more of a "specialty" thing than anything else nowadays.

- What's extending the front wheel bars on a cruiser motorcycle called?
is that making it into a chopper? sorta..? or whats the actual name of the piece you are extending and modifying.. such as the handlebar.. the .. bar under the hander bar and the wheel :o. im a bike noob. i dont havemy own yet, but im coming up with some stuff. http://www.chopper-kit-usa.com/New_Folder/yamaha3.jpg
A The peice you are referring to would be extended forks. Higher than standard handlebars are frequently called apehangers. To be a real chopper takes a lot more than changing the front end, although that is a great place to start. Welcome to the world of motorcycles, it can be a lifelong enjoyment, stick with stock motorcycles to begin with, then if you want to go the custom route you will have some ideas on where you want to go and what you like and dont like. There are some great magazines out there, pick up a copy of The Horse, Back Street Choppers, neat stuff in there done by average guys in their garages and back yards.
